The annual Grinding of the Greens project sponsored by Keep Beaufort County Beautiful takes place next week, giving folks the opportunity to turn their old Christmas tree into a gob of mulch.

The project is designed to keep discarded Christmas trees out of the landfill and provide mulch for local gardens.

Grinding and mulch distribution is scheduled for 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12. Mulch will be given out free to those with a container at one of seven “grinding” locations:
