
The Grand Opening of ARTworks is Thursday, November 20th
ARTworks is the new home of the Arts Council of Beaufort County (ACBC), in Beaufort Town Center. Please join ACBC's diligent board members, hardworking staff, skillful resident artists, and all the lively kids from the after-school program for the grand opening on Thursday, November 20th, from 5:30 to 7pm.
6 of the resident artist studios (which are now filled with their creative process!)

Art classes for students from 9 to 16 years old:
- September 29th through November 20th, 4 to 5:30pm.
- $45 per 7 week session for each class, which meets once a week.
- family discounts and limited scholarships available.

ARTworks is the new home of the Arts Council of Beaufort County, SC, a not-for-profit service organization nurturing the arts county-wide. ARTworks is a 12,000sf arts incubation building with a spacious gallery, six studios for working artists to share their creative process, and multiple spaces for creative hands-on classes for people of all art skill levels.

The South Carolina Center for the Book at will hold its annual awards ceremony on August 14, 2008, at the Hilton Head Island Library from 2:00-4:00pm. The ceremony is free and open to the public. All three honorees will attend:

Verbalicious: A spit fire Spoken Word Open Mic Set to satisfy your appetite.
Hosted by spoken wordsmith LaShanta Ase, Verbalicious will be held at the Arts Council of Beaufort County on Saturdays, July 12th and 26th @7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, June 18th, 6pm ~ the Annual Meeting of the Arts Council of Beaufort County
Please join ACBC to honor this year's six Arts Award Recipients. The Annual meeting will also include a short visual report about the many ways ACBC nurtures the arts here and now, opportunities to meet ACBC staff, boardmembers, and supporters, a reinstated art auction, and refreshments.

Graphic designer and artist Louise Coleman received the "Best of Category" award for "quality and effectiveness of art and design" of The Arts Council of Beaufort County's ArtNews magazine, based on visual impact, clarity and readability, use of color, and creativity, originality and flair. ArtNews is printed three times a year by Sun Printing in Orangeburg, which also shared in the award.
