PRESIDENT SAAKASHVILI OF GEORGIA: Georgia small country, if it were being butchered for the fact that close to the United States. You know the bombs, they have been thrown on our people killing hundreds of people for the last few days, I'm afraid to say thousands but hundreds at least. I hope it will not be thousands. You know they had inscription on them, this is for America, this is for NATO, this is for Bush. I told President Bush about it today, by the way. So it's all Russians are fighting war not with us at this stage. They are fighting war with the idea.

On our Nation’s birthday, I would like to put aside all politics. I don’t care if you are a democrat or republican; a liberal or a conservative. We can probably agree that our representatives do a terrible job representing us. My granddaddy used to say that you can’t be honest and a politician, too. The older I get, the more I see that’s true. During this time when the election is being shoved down our throats, I’d like to take a step back, and focus on the fact that we are all Americans and we live in the most wonderful Country in the world.

Butt Scratching and Bass Fishing
by Dave Ramsey
A couple of weeks ago, I worked late like I sometimes need to do to run my business. It was a nice
Tennessee summer evening, and I was enjoying the drive home. About 7:30, as I pulled to a stop light a
few blocks from my office, I noticed a light on in the corner office of a friend’s office building. Through the
twilight I could make out my friend’s silhouette as he bent over his desk. Being a fellow entrepreneur, I
knew what he was doing.

So what are my core values, the things that I refuse to compromise on? To figure that out, I decided to try to define what I think a conservative really believes.
A conservative believes that our inalienable rights do not include housing, healthcare or Hummers.
A conservative believes that our inalienable rights DO include the pursuit of happiness. That means it is guaranteed to no one.
A conservative believes that those who pursue happiness and find it have a right to not be penalized for that success.

Progress and the American Founding
By Bradley C. S. Watson
The American Founders didn't much believe in "progress" if it meant movement away from the timeless principles they enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution.
They didn't want us to have the courage to change so much as the courage to live up to our principles. The change they wanted us to believe in was the gradual realization of these principles through generations of courage and sacrifice. For the Founders, there was always the danger that change could be in negative as well as positive directions.

Local author, Misty (Barton) Massey, is signing her new book at Bay Street Trading Company from 1-3pm. Her new book is "Mad Kestrel". I read it and loved it. It is very fast paced and keeps the reader interested. Anyone who wants to support local authors should come out.

Try going to a Stingrays hockey game. Home games are held at the north Charleston Coliseum. It takes me 1.5 hours to get there from my front door. This saturday, February 9th, is Faith and Fun night. After the game is a Christian concert. The band is SonicFlood. Puck drops at 7:05. Get there early to watch the Stingrays warm up. To check out other promotional nights (Military night, etc.) go to www.stingrayshockey.com

My husband and I tried Thai Indeed for the first time on Saturday night. It was awesome. The service was a little slow, so I wouldn't recommend going there if you are in a hurry; but that is the only bad thing I can say about it. The food was wonderful. Not only in taste, but in presentation and price. The restaurant was a lot nicer than we expected. We can't wait to go back and try something else!
